Euthyphro’s Dilemma

It’s an old one again.  Does god command things because they are moral, or is it moral because god says so?  If it’s the latter, then morality is completely subjective, at the whim of some deity.  The rape of children cannot be said to be immoral since that deity can just say that it is.   Nobody would admit that even if a deity said it, it would not be moral, therefore morality cannot be based in a god.  If it’s the former, then we don’t need a god to tell us anything.  Just cut out the middle man since god isn’t the author of morality anymore.  Neither option is acceptable.
